Abercrete

Abercrete™

What is Abercrete?

The mineral additive Abercrete is a hydraulic binder system that is used for the replacement of base layers and anti-frost layers.  The new base and anti-frost layers are made from the existing soil using a soil stabilisation with cement and Abercrete.  The main advantage is that excavation, waste removal and filling materials are not required.

How does Abercrete work?

Abercrete is performance enhancing and neutralises the fulvic and carboxylic acids, boosting the cement hydration processes.  Structural changes by the additional new formation of minerals during the cement hydration lead to a considerable increase of the pressure resistance, the modulus of elasticity, the bending tensile strength and frost resistance.

Where can Abercrete be used?

Abercrete can be used for almost all kinds of projects which require load bearing ground.  These include traffic infrastructure projects like roads or railways, industrial areas, domestic construction projects, renewables, harbour facilities, container terminals and outdoor storage areas.

Which soil types can be utilised?

All soil types (except peat) can be used to become base courses with extremely high strength, with or without a low wearing surface such as asphalt or chipseal.  After a short period of time the treated areas will not absorb water anymore, so that any construction works can be carried out regardless of the weather conditions.

Increased Load Bearing Capacity

Abercrete layers have a load bearing capacity significantly higher than conventional base layers made from gravel.  Due to the increased load capacity the wearing surface can be reduced or left out completely.  Thin top layers, such as asphalt and chipseal, can be used for roads or left as a close-to-nature surface.  In both cases, road markings can be applied.

Sustainable and Eco Friendly Layers

Abercrete layers are frost-proof, impermeable and salt and acid proof.  The resistance to environmental influences is increased and there is a prevention from frost and thermal distortion.
